MTB & BMX Headsets

Standard sizes, sealed bearings, five anodised colours. HX1 headsets fit most zero-stack MTB, dirt jump and wheelie bike frames, not just ours. Check your head tube code below and pick tapered or straight.

Which headset fits my bike?

Headsets are sized by standard, not by brand. Our HX1 headsets use the industry-standard SHIS sizes, so they fit any frame and fork that use the same sizes, whoever made the bike.

  • Tapered fork, 44mm top / 55mm bottom head tube: HX1 Tapered Headset, ZS44/28.6 top and ZS55/40 bottom. A common tapered size on hardtails, dirt jump frames and big BMX (ZS56 bottoms are a different size). It is the headset on our C3.
  • Straight 1 1/8 inch fork, 44mm head tube: HX1 Straight Headset, ZS44/28.6. Fits straight zero-stack frames, including our C100 V3.
  • BMX with an integrated head tube: Integrated BMX Headset, 45x45 degree sealed bearings, 1 1/8 inch steerer.

How to check your size

Look for the headset code in your frame's spec (for example ZS44/28.6 | ZS55/40). No spec? Measure the inside of the head tube at the top and bottom (44mm and 55mm means tapered zero stack; 44mm at both ends means straight) and check your fork steerer: 1 1/8 inch all the way, or 1 1/8 inch at the top widening to 1.5 inch at the crown. Integrated (IS) and external-cup (EC) head tubes need a different headset.

Why HX1

CNC-machined alloy, sealed cartridge bearings and an anodised finish in black, chrome, gold, purple or oil slick. Coloured headsets in these sizes are hard to find, and the HX1 matches our ST1 stem, Hub 2, PX1 pedals and SC1 clamp for a full colour build.
